Community Service

The Wykeham Collegiate girls are encouraged to reach out to the community and in some small way use their time and talent to assist others who are less fortunate than themselves.  In the Senior School each girl is required to do a minimum of six hours of community service per year.  The Junior School is also very involved in community outreach and regularly supports several worthy causes.  It is hoped that pupils’ hearts will be stirred in such a way that outreach will become an integral part of their adult lives.

Pupils visit old age homes and orphanages in the community. They also tutor disadvantaged learners in Mathematics, Accounting, Business Studies and Life Sciences. Old notes, stationery, toys, food and clothing are collected and donated to needy organisations.  There is also an active Interact Club.

Being a member of a club or society is important to TWC girls.  Clubs have been formed to equip our girls to develop their passion or talent in an area; to develop organisational skills and for social networking; and to equip them with life skills needed in the Real World to develop their potential.

The following Clubs and Societies are currently offered (but not limited to):

  • Adventure Club
  • Chamber of Commerce
  • Chapel Monitors
  • Cell Groups
  • Chess Club
  • Computer Monitors

Girls are encouraged to be responsible custodians of the earth.  Apart from being informed about the challenges and stresses with regard to sustainability, practical 'hands on' activities are also undertaken.
