SCHOLARSHIP ENTRY Applicants for all Scholarships must write the Entrance/Scholarship Examinations. Applications for both Scholarships and Bursaries are to be submitted to: The Rose Ella Waring Scholarship is the school’s most prestigious Boarder award, representing 75% of both Tuition and Boarding fees. It is awarded to a boarder entering Grade 8 and is tenable for 5 years. Letters of application, giving a brief CV, are invited from parents of girls who are currently in Grade 7 and who are seeking admission as Boarders in 2011. The criteria laid down by the Rose Ella Waring Trust include academic ability, leadership potential, all-round participation and sound character.
THE WYKEHAM COLLEGIATE MAJOR SCHOLARSHIPS 1. Major Day Girl Scholarship representing 80% of tuition fees. 2. Major Boarder Scholarship representing 40% of both tuition and boarding fees. These Major Scholarships are awarded annually and are tenable for 5 years, provided the recipients maintain a high standard.THE WYKEHAM COLLEGIATE MINOR SCHOLARSHIPS FOR BOARDERS & DAY GIRLS Minor Academic Scholarships, representing a smaller percentage of tuition and boarding fees, are awarded annually to deserving candidates and are tenable for 5 years. THE WYKEHAM COLLEGIATE MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS Two Music Scholarships, representing 70% and 40% of tuition fees, are offered, though not necessarily awarded, to pupils currently in Grade 7. Girls entering for the Music Scholarship must write the Entrance/Scholarship examinations on Thursday, 6 May 2010 SPORT SCHOLARSHIPS Two Sport Scholarships, representing 70% and 40% of tuition fees, are offered, though not necessarily awarded, to pupils currently in Grade 7. Candidates entering for the Sport Scholarships are interviewed by a panel which includes Sports Staff and one of the Deputy Headmistresses on Wednesday, 5 May 2010 or Thursday, 6 May 2010. Besides the obvious criteria of outstanding sporting talent and representation at either regional or provincial level in one or more sporting codes, the successful candidates should exhibit qualities of leadership and sportsmanship in accordance with the school’s core values. It must be noted that the scholarships, which are tenable for 5 years, will be offered to the two most deserving Grade 7 candidates. CLOSED SCHOLARSHIPS Limited Closed Scholarships, representing 50% of tuition fees, are awarded annually and are tenable for 5 years. St Katherine's Primary, Johannesburg 14. The Wykeham Collegiate MATHEMATICS SCHOLARSHIP FOR ENTRY INTO GRADE 10 This scholarship is awarded to a non-TWC pupil and is tenable for 3 years. Applicants in Grade 9, whose reports indicate exceptional ability in this subject, are invited to write a Mathematics Scholarship Examination. This Scholarship represents 50% of tuition fees. SHIRLEY SIMONS TRUST Girls who are direct descendants of Old Girls of either Wykeham or Girls' Collegiate are eligible in terms of this trust to apply for bursary assistance.
