Junior School

Music Teacher

Starting 1 January 2024

 To be an integral part of the Junior School Music Department where we develop a love and appreciation for music and recognise and develop the musical talent in girls. 

  • Have a relevant music or teaching qualification.
  • Be a passionate class music specialist.
  • Have experience in teaching Junior School music.
  • The ability to work as part of a team of enthusiastic educators.
  • Be an accomplished pianist; accompanying in Chapel, assemblies, concerts etc.
  • Preferably play a second instrument.
  • Assist in growing a wide and varied music co-curricular programme, exposing girls to different instruments, and encouraging them to pursue music tuition.
  • Have a sound understanding of vocal technique and experience as a choir mistress.
  • Work closely with the Drama teachers and be willing to be the musical director for school productions e.g. Nativity Play, School Plays etc.
  • Be willing to organise, take part in and arrange musical events and tours.
  • Strings or woodwind specialist would be an advantage.

The successful candidate should:

  • Contribute positively to the Christian ethos and values of the school. 
  • Have SACE accreditation.
  • Evidence of clearance with the Child Protection Act and Sexual Offences Register
  • Have the ability to use technology to enhance learning. 
  • Possess effective communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Be energetic and innovative.
  • Have positive interpersonal skills.
  • Have strong organising, planning and reporting skills.
  • Be self-motivated and organised.
  • Implement and maintain a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
